負けてしまいましたね。FIBAワールドカップのアジア予選。２月２２日に日本 vs. 台北があり、惜しくも一点差で敗北。さらに、続く 日本 vs. フィリピン戦も残念ながら 84-89で負けてしまいました。たったの1点と5点の差ですがそこが勝負の分かれ目となるのは否めません。
常に日本代表の試合を観てて思うことは色々あるのですが、今回はフィジカルコンタクトについてを取り上げたいと思います。もちろん、スキル、シュート力、バスケIQ、ディフェンス力、全て足りないのが現実ですがその中でも一番わかりやすいフィジカルコンタクトの弱さについてです。
日本人はなぜコンタクトに弱い？
バンプ（相手に当たる事）を自分から仕掛けていない。それもトレーニングすべし
私はアメリカでピックアップゲームをすると良くアジア人で小さいからと舐められます。いかにも小さくて細いアジア人をどんどんパワーで圧倒しようとして身体をぶつけてくるのです。しかし、ここで負けていては相手が余計自信をつけてつけあがってきます。自信があれば下手でもシュートが入ります。ですので、そんな大きい選手とマッチアップすることになったら絶対にしないといけないことがあります。それは、自分からフィジカルコンタクトを仕掛けていく。
自分より小さいアジア人に対する身体の大きいアメリカ人の思考回路はこういう風です。
小さいやつがいる ⇒ 弱そうだな ⇒ パワーでゴリゴリいこう ⇒ オラオラ ⇒ 相手が弱気になる ⇒ 調子に乗る
ようするにこのサイクルにならせないことが先決です。小さいやつ＝弱そうなやつという思考回路を、
小さいやつ＝面倒くさいやつ という風にインプットする必要があります。そのためにはボールを持っていなところでどんどんボデイコンタクトを増やし、動いたり走ったりするだけで「こいつうっとおしいなぁ、嫌だな」と思わせなければいけません。そのためには自分からあえてボデイコンタクトを増やし、バンプ（BUMP）をどんどん積極的にしかけていくのです。もちろん、闇雲にしかけてはオフェンスファールを取られますからちゃんとルールの範囲内でどんどんボデイコンタクトをしかけます。特に嫌がるのは膝や太腿へのコンタクト。ポジション取りの時にITバンド（腸脛靭帯）に体重をかけて押し返すと必ず嫌がります。
さらに、走っているときでも肩と肩をぶつけたり、相手の進行方向を胸で止めたりと色々仕掛けていきます。大事なのは自分からフィジカルコンタクトを仕掛けることです。

日本人はディフェンスでオフェンスの前に回り込もうとするのが逆効果
さらに、先日の日本代表の試合を観ていた時に感じたのですが、日本人選手はディフェンスのときに、足を使ってオフェンスの目の前に回り込むようなフットワークをすることが非常に多いです。特にガード陣は足が速いため、それが出来てしまうのですが、結局筋力や体重差で押し込まれ、身体ごとふっ飛ばされてしまいます。
ならばどうすれば良いのか？相手の進行方向を少しズラしてあげましょう。真正面から受け止めるのではなく、方向を変えるようにボデイコンタクトするのです。真正面から受け止めるということは、自分も下がりながら相手を止めるということ。相手は進んでいる。自分は下がっている。そりゃあふっ飛ばされますよね。なので力の方向を少し変えてあげましょう。その時にもバンプが必要になります。しかも、審判に笛を吹かれない程度のバンプです。
もし、バスケのトレーニングをするならば、どうしてもこの方向を変えるトレーニングをする必要があるでしょう。
まとめ
日本人がバスケにおいてフィジカルコンタクトが弱い理由。それは自分からコンタクトをしかけないこと。そして、下手に足で回り込んでしまうようなディフェンスをすることを挙げました。他にもまだありますが、今回はこれくらいにしておこうと思います。また別の機会にかけてたらと思います。
